New! Scripted Compass and Altimeter
I've just released this scripted altimeter. It registers, in both analog and digital format, altitude to 10,000 meters. It updates several times a second, so remains accurate without overworking the simulator.
It's designed to be worn n the upper left HUD position, but can be attached elsewhere on the HUD or rezzed on the land. It can even be attached to your airplane or other vehicle! It's copyable and modifiable, and has a land impact of only four.
When you're underwater the face of the altimeter turns aqua. It's very cool to see it turn from white to blue to white again as you dip in and out of the water.
Above 4096 meters (the maximum height for building), the face turns yellow. If you go below zero meters (yes, it's possible!), the face turns red. I have to say, it's very strange below the surface. The lowest I've ever been is -340 meters.
Let me tell you-- it gets strange fast when you're below the grid!
Here's my scripted compass. When worn on the HUD the direction you are facing appears at the top. Here it's north, with west to your left, east to your right, and south behind you. It's intuitive--easy to use.
Like the altimeter, the compass is copyable and modifiable, and can be rezzed on the land or attached to a vehicle (land impact is 1).
Like the altimeter, the compass updates several times a second for smooth movement.
The price is just $149L.
The compass, priced at just $99L, is inexpensive and indispensable.

Reintroducing My Maypole
I love this maypole. It seats four avatars with custom poses and whisks them happily around-- and not only on the first of May.
Touch to start. Touch again to start music. Touch a third time to stop both movement and music.
The carousel times out after three minutes, so you won't log in to find it's been revolving since last Saturday.
The carousel is copyable and modifiable, so feel free to remove some of the ribbons and balls to reduce prim count.
I've reduced the price to a low, low $125L. It's a steal!
Pick up yours today at my Flights of Fancy store. You'll find the SLURL at right in the sidebar.

Price Lowered on 1920s Fruit Crates
I've lowered the price on this pallet of 1920s fruit and vegetable crates by 50%. They're on sale on the Second Life Marketplace for $150, and at Flights of Fancy Creations for $140. They're now modifiable and copyable, no transfer.
Until I update the sign I'm including a mod/transfer set also. That means you can make copies of the crates and yet give the transferrable ones away. How sweet is that?
What makes this set of crates special is its connection to organized crime. The top to one crate has been slid backwards, revealing a dozen bottles of bootleg champagne. An orange half, pierced with a knife, suggests someone was having a snackie-poo when, oh, I dunno, maybe the Feds busted in.

New Low Price on Kaboom Teleport Rocket
If you've not tried my teleport rocket, you should. Riding it is a great experience! You sit, it counts down, and zoom! You're 700 meters above the ground and still climbing!
It's totally awesome to go into mouselook and watch the ground drop away. Positively NASA!
When the rocket loses intertia and begins to fall back to earth it explodes and the rider is teleported to anyplace in the sim the owner has chosen-- anywhere. Meanwhile, back at the launchpad, a new rocket materializes.
The owner can always set the return point a few meters away from the launch port and turn the rocket into just a fun ride.
I plan to build a larger multi-seat version which just might make the teleport rocket the only teleporter in Second Life that will move multiple people. Someone else might have built such a thing; I'm just sayin' I've never seen one.
I've lowered the price from $750 to a cool $395. It's that or pay Richard Branson a quarter-million dollars. You choose!
Check out my other Second Life Blog for a post soon to appear about a new use I discovered for the teleport rocket. You can adjust the tilt and fly across multiple sims! Fun! Dangerous! Dangerous fun!
You can see a visual display of the rocket at the Flights of Fancy Store or go to the Sea Decks on Whimsy Kaboom and ride it for real. I'll have to get down there as soon as this posts and reduce the price on the sales sign!

Southwestern-Style Jewelry: Now Improved-- and Less Expensive!
My Southwestern-style jewelry has sold well for years, but frankly, it was a nightmare to sell.
With nine pieces, each available in nine stones in both gold and silver, there were several hundred items to manage on both the Second Life Marketplace and my vendors-- so when the Lindens announced they were going to kill the old-style magic boxes that held my items, I re-thought the line. Here's what's new:
That's right, the jewelry is now scripted. My customers can now select from any of nine beautiful stones via script. Each piece contains just one script, so lag is nearly immeasurable.
As with all my jewelry, it's copiable and modifiable.
The jewelry is stunning, as you can see from the topmost photo. Look below the fold for more pictures.
Don't forget there's a 25% discount for members of the Flights of Fancy group. There are handy signs at the store.

Open for Business!
Open for Business!
Written 1 June, 2013
I'm happy to say Flights of Fancy is now formally open for business! I will be posting regularly here at the FoF blog.
The build has been complete for a while, up in nosebleed territory at 4000 meters. There are robots to annoy and an assortment of Second Life's great games is just a short trip away via lift and tram (so much more fun than teleporting or flying!).
The jewelry vendors are up and running and products are listed on my store on the Second Life Marketplace.
The Flights of Fancy Creations group will feature announcements of sales, free and special items for group members. Group members get a whopping 25% discount from the vendors. A sign will allow you to join the group by touching; there's no charge.
My line of Southwestern jewelry just got a major upgrade (and a significant drop in price!). The old sets are gone; now a low-lag script allows you to select from nine different beautiful stones. I'm adding new jewelry (and non-jewelry) products daily.
Every two weeks I'll put a new free product in the special vendor for group members. I'll also be sending out gifts to gift members twice a month via group notices.
All my jewelry is Copy/Mod, but I've installed a re-delivery terminal in case you lose a piece from your inventory.
Whimsy is a great place to visit, so please come and explore even if you're not in the mood for shopping. We like visitors!

Changes at Flights of Fancy
Changes at Flights of Fancy
Written 16 March, 2013
I make nice stuff and I've been remiss in not making it more available. That's about to change.
The Lindens are doing away with the magic boxes which contain my products, and that has motivated me to think my product line and made me determined to list the many great things I've made and rethink the many products I've made, including my line of jewelry-- and I will be posting here regularly.
The blog itself will be changing. I'll be posting regularly, and I'll be redoing the layout.
Members of the Flights of Fancy group will get a 20% discount from the vendors at the store.
Whimsy and Whimsy Kaboom are now four years ago and are among Second Life's most popular destinations. We like visitors, who tend to spend hours here because there's so much to see and do.
Links are on the right side of this blog.

The Debut of the Kaboom Teleport Rocket
Written 23 February, 2011
The Debut of the Kaboom Teleport Rocket
I'm pleased to announce the launch (hehe, literally) of my Kaboom Rocket V2. It's a little sixteen prim wonder that will fire you or your friends hundreds of meters into space. Then, after the motors shut down and you're peacefully following your trajectory the rocket explodes. When the smoke clears you find yourself at a new place( pre-determined by you the owner).
To use, the owner sets out the 4-prim stand and touches and holds it for about three seconds, rezzing a rocket. The owner then sets the coordinates of the destination in the rocket's description field. That's where the rocket will teleport its riders. The destination can be anywhere in the sim, all the way up to 4096 meters.
When an avatar sits on the rocket it will count down and blast off in a cloud of blue flame and smoke and thunder. In a few seconds a new rocket will rez, retaining the destination coordinates.
The Kaboom Rocket is cute and stylish and provides spectacular views during its flight. I never tire of pointing my camera down and watching the ground drop away. It makes me feel like an astronaut! It's so very NASA!
* 16 Prims (Plus 4 or 5 for launcher)
* Copyable
* Modifiable Prims
* Cute appearance
* Realistic trajectory
* Teleports rider to any location in the sim
* Rocket dies after flight; rezzer creates new rocket
* Owner's manual provided
Buy the Kaboom Teleport Rocket on the SL Marketplace or ride it and buy it at a discount at Whimsy Kaboom.

Great New Product: Chey's Poseball Switch

We're excited here at Flights of Fancy to announce the release of Chey's Poseball Switch!
Imagine-- one-touch show/hide convenience for all your poseballs. You simply touch the switch and your poseballs on channels 0-10 show. Touch again and they hide. On and off at ranges up to 96 meters. And the ball changes color and level of illumination as it switches (green for on, red for off, full bright when on).
The switch is low-lag, since it doesn't listen to Chat, and only one prim. Twice a day it will automatically turn off the poseballs you have left out (IM Cheyenne Palisades if you would like to disable this feature).
Available in three models: Whisper (0-10 meters), Say (0-20 meters) and Shout (0-96 meters), and in Fat Packs!
If you have more than a couple of poseballs, this switch will make your second life easier. We promise.
